About this workshop
To overcome the inevitable changes, stresses and setbacks of the professional world, individuals and organisations need resilience. Figures from the HSE show that, recently, stress accounted for 37% of all work related ill health cases and 45% of all working days lost due to illness. Numerous studies suggest that work-related burnout and anxiety is much lower amongst individuals with high levels of personal resilience.
Developing greater resilience can help ensure that, when stress cannot be avoided, it won’t derail important projects or prevent important work from being completed. At The School of Life, we focus on the psychological blocks which prevent people from bouncing back after tough experiences: the core beliefs and thought patterns which get in the way of psychological recovery. By sharing easy-to-learn techniques, and identifying key emotional resources, we can help participants to thrive no matter what challenges they encounter.
In this workshop you will:
- Consider why experiencing change can be so difficult for all of us
- Learn how to develop a more helpful mindset when experiencing change and loss, avoid blaming yourself and instead allow yourself to both mourn and grow
- Explore how you might take a new perspective on difficult events by telling the story in a different way
- Create a toolbox of resources to use when times get tough and consider what new strategies might be useful
