Our psychotherapists will conduct a formal assessment of your situation, discuss a plan of action, and then regularly check in on progress. They know that your time is limited and they are keen to work with you to accelerate positive evolutions.

We run weekly Group Therapy sessions which we see as complementary to one-on-one psychotherapy – and we invite you to try a range of other therapies, including Couple & Other Relationships therapy, EMDR, and CBT, which help to embed change and move you towards greater ease and freedom.

Overall, we see ourselves as providing not just a therapist but a complete wrap-around service that will cater to all of your psychological needs.

Navigate to the type of therapy you are interested in and look at the biographies of the therapists on offer. When you have selected the therapist you wish to meet, move to purchase an initial session. 

Please note that The School of Life does not – from a legal and contractual point of view – offer therapy services directly. Rather, it facilitates appointments with licensed independent therapists that we have carefully chosen. So you should note that the therapist-client relationship will therefore ultimately always be between you and the therapist rather than you and The School of Life.

The best move is to book an initial therapy session and address concerns and thoughts with the therapist themselves.

All psychotherapists affiliated with The School of Life are registered and accredited with either the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the British Psychoanalytic Council or the British Psychological Society (BPS), or other professional bodies depending upon their jurisdiction of practice and licensure. 

Our therapists meet regularly with one another – under the guidance of our clinical director, Desa Markovic – for continual professional development and to share best practice. You can be reassured that we undertake a rigorous process to confirm that all our therapists have the correct and up to date accreditations, qualifications and insurances to practice in their chosen field. 

Our affiliated therapists offer therapy sessions Monday to Friday at a range of times. Please use our booking tool to search for available appointment times with your chosen therapist and modality. For ongoing therapy, you might be invited to join a waiting list. If you have very specific appointment requirements, such as wanting an exact evening slot, you might need to wait a few weeks or, at worst, months.

Soon after completing the purchase of an initial session, you will receive an automated email with information about our therapy service – and next steps.

Your therapist will contact you directly prior to the session you booked via email with the online link and further details. Please make sure you periodically check the email address you entered at checkout, including your junk folder.

Sadly, we do not currently offer therapy for children or adolescents under the age of 18.

During the initial session you will have the opportunity to disclose any topics you might want to bring to therapy with a skilled therapist as well as questions and concerns.

Clients come to therapy for many reasons. What you hope to achieve by coming to therapy will determine how often and for how long you might want to engage in the therapeutic relationship, which can range from a few weeks to a few years depending on your circumstances. 

As such, we would suggest initially attending weekly but please do talk this through with your therapist during your early consultations as the frequency and length of your sessions together will be determined by what you hope to achieve and/or the clinical assessment by the psychotherapist.

If you are experiencing difficulties and feel you will benefit from seeing a therapist urgently, we advise you to seek help through services that offer emergency support. If you think you have a medical or mental health emergency, please call 911 (US) or 999 (UK) or go to the nearest open clinic or emergency room. We try our best to accommodate requests, but it might take a few days to find a date that suits both your and your therapist’s schedule.

Our therapy sessions take place online using video conferencing. Your therapist will confirm all the arrangements with you in advance.

The therapists’ availability changes quickly. If you would like to be offered an initial appointment slot, please book an initial session through our website at a time and date that is convenient for you. 

If you and the therapist for your initial session both agree that ongoing therapy might be appropriate, you can discuss future timings with them.

The initial and ongoing fee is £115 (or EUR/ USD equivalent) for all individual psychotherapy and CBT sessions. Please note that EMDR sessions are priced at £135 for 60 minutes, and Couple & Other relationships therapy is £145 per session. Our coaching service is charged at £180 per hour, and the 2-hour Career Counselling service is £350.

We ask you for feedback via email after your initial consultation, and may also ask for further feedback at other points during your therapeutic journey. You are under no obligation to answer this feedback form, but we greatly value hearing about your experience of our service

Apart from adult couples, our family therapists see family members of all ages [above 18 years old], all genders and sexualities.

Our therapists are appreciative and knowledgeable in the areas of gender, sexuality and relationship diversity. We take a non-normative, sex positive and non-binary approach to varied relationship forms, including monogamy and ethical non-monogamy, such as polyamory, consensual open relationships, and others.
