Eleanor Gammell

Eleanor Gammell is the Managing Director at The School of Life Australia.

With a background in art history and gallery management, and now overseeing TSOL Australia, Eleanor’s career has focused on accessibility of cultural disciplines and connection of community through meaningful conversation.

Managing Australian Galleries in Sydney, Eleanor has staged major exhibitions with some of Australia's most significant contemporary artists including Jeffrey Smart, William Robinson, Inge King and Garry Shead. Following this, Eleanor was based in New York establishing a contemporary exhibition program with Waterhouse & Dodd Contemporary Gallery.

More recently, Eleanor managed the privately owned contemporary Indigenous art collection of the Laverty family, and also headed acquisitions for Sculpture by the Sea - Australia's largest outdoor exhibition attracting half a million visitors each year. During this time, she also established a virtual exhibition platform with the Google Cultural Institute.
