Objectivity

In order to assist the small and start-up business community, the School of Life offers a selection of key business workshops in our public program. These provide a cost-effective way for start-ups or smaller businesses to access the support of developing key emotional skills to thrive in their professional lives and to sustain themselves, others and their business over time.

Emotions can sometimes blur our vision. To make good decisions and work well with others, we need to be able to separate the way we feel about the world from the way it actually is.

In this three-hour session, we will:

  • Learn about the different errors and biases to which our minds are prone, and how to correct for these
  • Consider the ways in which we might judge ideas too much by their source and too little on their independent merit
  • Practice the art of detachment from our own experiences and interests, in order to consider things from a wider, more universal point of view
  • Learn strategies for making decisions that will serve us well in the long term

About Business Workshops

Many of the most pressing problems of the modern workplace have to do with shortfalls in emotional intelligence – rather than with deficiencies in technical or ‘hard’ skills. Bringing together the expertise of entrepreneurs, psychologists, thought leaders and CEOs – and drawing upon The School of Life’s unique expertise in cultivating emotional intelligence – our Professional Workshops will equip you with the tools and strategies needed to thrive in the modern workplace. They also provide the opportunity for informal networking with other business professionals.
