In order to assist the small and start-up business community, the School of Life offers a selection of key business workshops in our public program. These provide a cost-effective way for start-ups or smaller businesses to access the support of developing key emotional skills to thrive in their professional lives and to sustain themselves, others and their business over time.
To overcome the inevitable changes, stresses and setbacks of the professional world, individuals and organisations need resilience. Its value is indisputable – a meta-analysis of different studies suggests that when employees are happy and confident (whatever other challenges they are facing) they are 31% more productive, make 37% more sales, and are three times as creative.
In this three-hour session, we will:
- Consider why experiencing change can be so difficult
- Learn to develop a growth mindset, where setbacks are seen as temporary learning experiences
- Create a toolbox of resources to use when times get tough and consider what new strategies might be useful
- Explore how we might take a new perspective on difficult events

ABOUT BUSINESS WORKSHOPS
Many of the most pressing problems of the modern workplace have to do with shortfalls in emotional intelligence – rather than with deficiencies in technical or ‘hard’ skills. Bringing together the expertise of entrepreneurs, psychologists, thought leaders and CEOs – and drawing upon The School of Life’s unique expertise in cultivating emotional intelligence – our Professional Workshops will equip you with the tools and strategies needed to thrive in the modern workplace. They also provide the opportunity for informal networking with other business professionals.
