Sian Prior is a writer, broadcaster, teacher and musician. She has been a presenter on ABC Radio National, 774 ABC Melbourne and ABC Classic FM, and contributed a weekly column to The Age newspaper for three years. She is an award-winning short story writer and her essays have been published in Meanjin literary magazine, Fairfax publications and Penguin's Women of Letters anthology.
Sian teaches in RMIT’s creative writing programs and runs writing workshops in the community. Her first book, ‘Shy – a memoir’, was published by Text Publishing in June 2014. In it she examines her lifelong struggles with social anxiety and the techniques she developed to overcome her fears. Her website is sianprior.com.
