Eleanor Gammell is the Managing Director at The School of Life Australia.
With a background in art history and gallery management, and now overseeing TSOL Australia, Eleanor’s work focuses on accessibility of cultural disciplines and connection of community through meaningful conversation.
Eleanor leads The School of Life teams in Sydney and Melbourne, manages our collaborative cultural partnerships, and curates our program. She sees philosophy, art history, literature and other cultural disciplines as lenses through which we can explore deeper connection and self-awareness.
Beginning her career managing Australian Galleries in Sydney, Eleanor has staged major exhibitions with some of Australia's most significant contemporary artists. Following this, she moved to New York to establish a contemporary exhibition program with Waterhouse & Dodd Gallery. More recently, Eleanor managed the privately owned contemporary Indigenous art collection of the Laverty family, and also headed acquisitions for Sculpture by the Sea - Australia's largest outdoor exhibition attracting half a million visitors each year. During this time, she also established a virtual exhibition platform with the Google Cultural Institute.
