Eleanor Gammell

Eleanor Gammell is the Managing Director at The School of Life Australia.

With a background in art history, Eleanor’s work has focussed on the accessibility of art and engagement of community. Throughout her career Eleanor has staged major exhibitions with Australian Galleries for some of Australia's most significant contemporary artists including Jeffrey Smart, William Robinson, Inge King and Garry Shead. Following this, Eleanor was based in New York for two years establishing a contemporary exhibition program with Waterhouse & Dodd Contemporary, managing the gallery and touring emerging artists to the east coast art fairs.

More recently, Eleanor managed the privately owned contemporary Indigenous art collection of the Laverty family, and also headed acquisitions for Sculpture by the Sea - Australia's largest outdoor exhibition attracting half a million visitors each year. During this time, she also established a virtual exhibition platform with the Google Cultural Institute.
