Modern life can keep us so busy that we forget (or avoid) the essential need to stop and check in with ourselves in order to take care of our own emotional lives.

At The School of Life we believe that consulting a psychotherapist should be as accessible and as normal as developing your career, getting help for a physical problem, or going to the gym to get healthy. Just as we take care of our bodies and physical health, a vital element of self-care is devoting focused time and energy to exploring and understanding our thoughts and feelings.

Whatever is going on in your life – whether you are entering a period of transition, want to improve your relationships or are stuck in a rut– we’ll engage you in an enlightening one-to-one conversation marked by curiosity, respect and understanding. You may want help for dealing with a serious problem, or perhaps you want to develop and self-improve.

Psychotherapy can help when life feels unbearably difficult, and it can also make a decent life even better. You will work collaboratively to become more aware of patterns in your life and enact changes to lessen your suffering and increase your enjoyment of life.

Our Psychotherapists

All the psychotherapists and psychologists affiliated with The School of Life are registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the British Psychoanalytic Council or the British Psychological Society (BPS).

Booking Information

Once you have purchased a session, one of our psychotherapists will be in touch via email to arrange a day and time for the initial session. The session will last for 50 minutes and the fee is £100. This will be an opportunity for you to have an in-depth conversation with a highly qualified psychotherapist. You may then choose to have weekly follow-on sessions, which you'll arrange directly with the psychotherapist.

Sessions take place in the therapy rooms at 8 Northington Street or online – please confirm the location with your therapist.

Please note that once your appointment time and date have been confirmed, we have a forty-eight hour cancellation policy. Any cancellations less than 48 hours prior to an appointment, or any no-shows will be charged. Any requests to reschedule less than 48 hours prior to an appointment, cannot be guaranteed and the original appointment will be charged for other than in exceptional circumstances.

If you are unable to arrange a session,  then we will offer a refund within 6 months of your original booking. If the booking was made more than 6 months ago but less than a year ago, we will gladly offer a gift voucher for the original value of the booking. Bookings made over 12 months ago that were not arranged, cannot be refunded other than in exceptional circumstances. If you were gifted a session that you do not wish to take, then we will happily exchange this for a gift voucher within 12 months of the original booking. Online Sessions

Online sessions are available for anyone around the world. Sessions will be held in English. Once you have made a booking, one of the psychotherapists will be in touch via email to arrange a time for the initial session. The session will last 50 minutes, and the fee is £100 (or $125 US). Ongoing weekly sessions can be arranged directly with the psychotherapist. Please ensure you have a sufficient internet connection and a Zoom account ahead of your session.
