Susan Kahn is a core Business Faculty Member at The School of Life. Independently, Susan works as a coach, consultant and mediator with a particular interest in the behaviour of people at work, in groups and as individuals – in the joy and the challenges of working life. As a mediator she is skilled in improving working relationships and developing common understanding between parties in toxic relationships.
In addition to her private clients she works as a lecturer at Birkbeck, University of London, teaching coaching and organisational psychology. Her research interests include leadership, change and vulnerability at work. Her doctoral research examined endings at work post the 2008 financial crisis, closely observing a failing bank. Her first career was in telecommunications and she has recently extended her group work to equine coaching with clients including the leadership team of a prison.
An anthropologist first she is a keen observer of working life, supported by training in consulting using psychoanalytic methods (MA, Tavistock) mediation and conflict resolution (MSc, Birkbeck) and philosophy and organizational psychology (PhD, Birkbeck).
