Clare is a freelance mentoring and diversity expert, helping organisations develop their female talent and create cultures within which diverse people can flourish. She has worked as an Associate with The Mentoring Foundation and co-authored the book “The Rise of the Female Executive: How Women’s Leadership is Accelerating Cultural Change”. Her PhD thesis (Birkbeck) examined the experience of men and women in mentoring relationships and her earlier Masters in Career Management and Coaching (Birkbeck) looked in particular at women’s experiences of career obstacles and how mentoring and coaching can help overcome them.
In a previous life, Clare worked for 14 years as an internet legal and regulatory expert heading European legal and public policy teams in global communications companies. In that role, she represented the industry in the media and acted as chairman of the internet service providers self-regulatory body, growing her understanding and experience of how to shape policy ideas and influence corporate and government leaders. Her experience of group dynamics in international companies ignited her interest in coaching and mentoring as a tool to improve dynamics and facilitate change.
