What is ‘Stay or Leave?'
Stay or Leave is a 2.5 hour class by The School of Life which takes place regularly in our virtual classroom over Zoom. It is one of 12 classes around our 4 core themes: Love, Work, Self and Culture.
Why should I attend?
What is ‘a good enough’ relationship? Is this what we should accept, might things get better, when is it right to compromise? It can be difficult to know what levels of hard work, difficulty and everyday scratchiness we should accept in love. Our culture provides us with seductive images of constantly intense and passionate versions of love, although it provides us with little guidance as to what is an acceptable degree of realism.
How do we assess our relationships? How do we understand what the right levels of joy and frustration are? What if we can’t find anyone better? Are we worthy of anything else? Are we just being spoilt? This is a class that offers us a variety of approaches for either improving existing relationships or helping us to exit them with grace.
What will I learn?
Stay or Leave teaches us:
How much should two people argue and how should they ideally do it
What level of passion and intimacy is ‘normal’?
How do we assess our own ideas of a ‘deal-breaker’?
What is ‘good enough’?
What level of sexual satisfaction is to be expected?
