About the Day
Judging by the annals of history, it seems hard to escape the conclusion that leaders are ‘born, not made.’ Great leaders — Napoleon, Joan of Arc, Steve Jobs — seem to emerge fully formed; blessed with a divine gift for commanding and inspiring others.
Yet leadership is a skill like any other; one made up of emotional attributes — like self-awareness, decisiveness and resilience — that can be cultivated, and mastered, by anyone. True leaders aren’t endowed with any special ability; they’re simply patient enough to study the techniques that true leadership requires.
This March, The School of Life is hosting a Leadership Day; a one-day workshop dedicated to the art of effective command at work. In the morning, we’ll explore Self-Awareness: how an accurate appraisal of your strengths and weaknesses can help you gain authority in the eyes of colleagues and employees. In the afternoon, we’ll explore Leadership more directly: analysing your relationships with those you manage and identifying those areas where greater trust and mutual respect can be created. Both workshops are from our trusted Management Series.
Throughout the day, you’ll meet and work with other aspiring leaders to explore the pitfalls and practicalities of leadership together. Each workshop is highly interactive, delivered alongside extensive supporting material and practical exercises to encourage the development of new behaviours in a workplace environment. You’ll not only learn the fundamental skills of management; you’ll acquire the tools and vocabulary necessary to teach these same skills to others in your organisation.
In addition to the live virtual Management Series Workshops, you will also receive:
- A 1 year subscription to The School of Life App (worth £49.99)
- 15% off The School of life work-related products and books*
