Deep Talk with Jon Kabat-Zinn - Mindfulness for the Modern World
Not long ago, meditation was a fringe practice and mindfulness a concept that few outside spiritual circles were familiar with. Today it has become a normal and cherished part of modern life. Few people have done more to facilitate this shift than Jon Kabat-Zinn. His mindfulness-based stress reduction programme, now a staple of mental health interventions, brought mindfulness practices into the fold of western science and medicine. To this day, he keeps inspiring people around the world to discover the gifts of mindfulness.
In this deep talk with Jon Kabat-Zinn, we discuss the following questions while staying attuned to whatever emerges in the present moment:
– What is the place of mindfulness in modern life?
– How should we relate to spiritual traditions such as Buddhism, and is there a spiritual dimension to mindfulness?
– Is there a danger in the way that mindfulness has become an industry (“McMindfulness”)?
– What are Jon Kabat-Zinn’s reflections on his personal journey?
The event was held in English.
