TSOL Melbourne Blog
Since The School of Life launched in London back in 2008, we’ve had strong support from Australia, and we continue to be amazed by the number of Australians who engage with our community online and visit us when in the UK on their travels.

For the first time last year, we were able to bring The School of Life down under through our friends at the Sydney Opera House, who hosted a sell-out event featuring life lessons from our faculty.  We also published our first series of books with PanMacmillan, and will be releasing further titles in Australia later this year. In light of the growing interest in our activities, and with our good fortune in finding passionate, likeminded partners to help make our vision a reality,  it became possible to imagine the opening of an actual school.
After a long incubation period and a great deal of very hard work, we are proud to announce the official launch of The School of Life Australia.  It’s home, for a ten-week Summer Term, will be in the Collingwood district of Melbourne, in a space that has been utterly transformed in the midst of 36+ degree heat by a band of energetic volunteers and an incredibly dedicated team.

Spearheaded by Project Director, Sara Tiefenburn,  the project is a joint venture between The School of life and social enterprise Small Giants, and has also been made possible by the unbridled enthusiasm and support of Co-Design Studio, Dumbo Feather and many others.

So this Saturday, we will open our doors, kick back and celebrate with a spectacular feast served up by modern day food warrior, Rohan Anderson.  For the rest of the Australian summer we will be offering a variety of programmes from our unique range of Classes, Intensives, Special Events, Everyday Adventures and Bibliotherapy, all delivered by an exciting new Australian faculty.
We’re also looking forward to welcoming the likes of David Woods, John Safron, Christine Kenneally, Andrea Durbach and Craig Sherbourne to deliver Secular Sermons, a series of thought-provoking, dramatic events curated by Stephen Armstrong with the generous support of the City of Melbourne, Wheeler Centre and the Trawalla Foundation.
We hope you enjoy the experience!
