Roman Krznaric

 


Roman Krznaric is a writer and teacher on creative thinking about the art of living and social change. He is a faculty member of The School of Life and co-created the courses on Work and Politics. For several years he was Project Director at The Oxford Muse, the foundation established by the avant-garde historian Theodore Zeldin to stimulate courage and invention in personal, professional and cultural life. He studied at the universities of Oxford, London and Essex, where he gained his PhD, and has done human rights work in Central America.


 


Roman’s great passion is empathy, and he has been a consultant on empathy development and social change for Oxfam, the United Nations and community organisations around the country. His new book, Empathy, will be published by Acumen later this year. He is also the author of The First Beautiful Game, and Work and the Art of Living, which draws on his personal experience of trying multiple jobs, from academia to gardening, from journalism to carpentry. Roman is a fanatical real tennis player and his ambition is to found the world’s first empathy museum.
