Breakfast Club

A man should swallow a toad every morning to be certain of not encountering anything more disgusting in the course of the day.

Nicholas de Chamfort

While we can see his point – that it is wise to face the challenges of the day early than let them take you by surprise later on – here, at The School of Life, we prefer to start our day with something a little less slimy.

Our breakfasts, led by philosophers Robert Rowland Smith and Mark Vernon, offer a variety of big ideas for tackling life’s everyday challenges. You’ll engage with some of the most robust advice from philosophy, literature, art, politics and psychology on surviving the inevitable stresses of a working day. You’ll reflect on how to make the most of thoughts and dreams that often remain undigested from the night before. And you’ll have the opportunity to take a long view of your personal priorities for the days and weeks ahead.
