Mark Brickman
Mark Brickman is a film-maker, theatre director and writer. After training at New York University Film School, he returned to the UK and became the Artistic Director of Actors Touring Company. For five years, he toured classical productions nationally and to Norway, the Caribbean and the Brazilian rainforest. After a period as Artistic Director of The Crucible Theatre, Sheffield, he directed operas by Tchaikovsky, Verdi and Janaceck for Scottish Opera. He subsequently worked as Associate Director at Soho Theatre, developing new plays by first time writers. He left to become Director of Development at October Films, staying for the next four years. He also visited Aboriginal communities, researching his own screenplay about the first Australian cricket team to visit the UK in 1868 - a group of Aboriginal players. He currently directs films and documentaries for the educational, medical and not for profit sector. He has taught at many institutions ranging from The Royal College of Music to The Arvon Foundation and The University of the Arts London. |
