Hugo Whately

Hugo Whately has worked as a teacher in secondary and primary schools across east London, most recently as Head of Religious Education at a Comprehensive and at a Grammar school.  He has also contributed to university teacher training courses, and has written a PhD applying Isaiah Berlin’s political philosophy of value pluralism to theories of religious education.

When not thinking or writing about education, Hugo likes being outside. So much so, he spent a year walking around the outside of the whole of the British Isles. Apart from an uneven tan, Hugo’s year also gave him the chance to meet lots of very interesting people, and also to ponder the benefits of being alone. He teaches our course on this subject, along with several others.
